Friends on Friday...

I haven't had a "Friends on Friday" in a while...so I thought I would share a few pictures that my wonderful blogging friends sent me.

These first 2 pictures are from Cathi at Shakerwood Primitives. Looks like she was a Tool Time Girl long before I was. She and her husband used a "T", a flange and a pipe to make this adorable paper towel holder....just too cute!! She has inspired me to make something with a narrow pipe for my spools of ribbon. Thanks Cathi for sending me these pictures.

This next photo is from Tudy at Tudy's Craft Cupboard. She used my tutorial for the dry erase board, but made hers extra special...she covered the frames with fabric. What a great idea to match a room or like she did, matched it for her grandchildren. I love this idea!! Thanks Tudy.

Last, but certainly not the least, is a Tool Time if I ever saw one. Look what Nancy from the Tattered Garden made using a metal tape measure!!! She has a wonderful tutorial on her blog for this snappy bag , so go take a peek. Thanks so much Nancy!

Friends on Friday...

You all know the way I feel about blogging. Along with quilting, it has become a must do in my life. I love to share my ideas and to be inspired by all of you.

I have met 2 wonderful new friends who have inspired me with their work. They used the tutorials from my car caddy and the design wall and have created their own works of art.

These first few pictures are from Vikki from Sew Useful Designs. You must visit her blog...fantastic. She created this cup holder sewing caddy for her friend (one very lucky friend!!) Is this the cutest thing you've ever seen or what? The little "are we there yet" is a needle holder. The floss holder on the key chain...absolutely clever.

She also sewed her a travel journal. Look closely at the fabric. Peace on Earth by 3 Sisters...to die for how it matches the theme. Vikki, you really should start selling these!!! Thanks, so much for letting me post these pictures.

Now onto to Zlaty's fabulous design wall. Zlaty is from Zlaty Sews and her blog is a must see. Pop over and see her tutorial on this wall. Look at how she conquered my fabric nightmare. She sewed four channels for the pipes and look how tight her fabric is...you can probably bounce a quarter off it. Not only do I love the wall, but look what's on it. Zlaty, that is going to be one beautiful quilt. Can't wait to see that finished.

This last picture is how Zlaty cut her pvc pipe. Now is that a Tool Time Tuesday or what. That is one serious cutter and I want one!!! Thanks so much Zlaty for letting me share these pictures, I really appreciate it.

Friends on Friday...

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

I started my blog in January of this year...just 6 months ago. In that short time, I have met countless women who have touched my life in so many ways. It could have been a short comment about a post, a long email about family or a question about paper piecing hexagons. It has gone so far as to make a dear friend 3000 miles away. We send each other comments, long emails and joke that we were separated at birth (not sure how that worked, because she is younger than me. That's how we're explaining why we do everything alike). Even though we have never met, this is what blogging has done for me...a friendship I cherish.

All of you make me laugh, you make me cry, you share your families and you inspire me beyond belief. My "friends on Friday" post are about friends who have emailed pictures of their projects that they have made from the Tool Time Tuesday post or just friends that inspire me speechless. Popover to see these 3 great women and see what they have been up to!!

First is Cathy from Cabbage Quilts. I've blogged about her great Pringles can in the past, but you must go see her again. She has the most beautiful applique quilt in her recent post. I've pictured it below...isn't it wonderful.

and this hexagon quilt just blows me away. She sewed this on a machine!! For all of us paper piecers, this is a must do. Each hexagon is cut in half. Again, my "To Do" list is growing by the minute. Thanks Cathy...big hugs from the other side of the world.

Next, you must visit Sandy from Sandy's in Stitches. She made these adorable car caddies from one of my TTT posts. She made them for herself, her daughters and daughter-in-law when they travel for their vacation. Don't you just love the fabric. Take a peek at the rest of her blog too. She made these little matching dresses for her 3 granddaughters...so cute!!

Last, but certainly not least is Diane from Grandma's Quilts. Look at the design wall she made in lightening speed from this post. This wall is fantastic...look how big it is. I still haven't put together the tutorial for the larger one yet and she has one twice the size. I love it!!! Not to mention the unbelievable blocks she has on that wall. I think we need to see a close up of those. Go visit and leave her some blogging love and maybe she'll post a picture of them.

Remember this TTT about the eye bolt thread holder?

Well, look at this beauty from Erin at A Prairie Home Quilts. The eye bolt thread holder is attached to the cutest needle holder ever. This is such a great idea... I love the fabric and the design on the case. Thanks Erin for sharing!!! Go for a visit and see her awesome hexagon flowers and the cutest kitty.

Cathy from Cabbage Quilts had a Tool Time of her own. Is this not the best idea for pins, needles and all those scrap threads? The best part is eating all the Pringles to get to the empty can!! Cathy, you are so nice to share this, thanks! You must visit this blog...she has the most beautiful quilts with fabric to die for.

and this weeks TTT was the name badge holders.

There were so many great ideas for these from a few bloggers, I wanted to share them with you.
Mel from Mel's Own Place thought to use the badges for all those punch cards...the ones where they keep track of what you purchase and if you buy so much, you get something free. I have those for coffee, subway etc. Love this! Go visit Mel and see the wonderful re-do on an old VW, so cute.

Catherine from Quilt Obsession is going to use her badge to hold her hexagons when she's sewing. Go see her work with Inklingo it's amazing! She prints all her templates directly to the fabric and then uses a running stitch.

Jackie, from Canton Village Quilt Works, had a great idea... we could all keep the business cards from all the quilt shops that we visit or our favorite machine quilter's business cards in one place, so they're easy to find. Thanks Jackie! This is another fabulous blog...click on her website and go see her gallery of quilting...she is the best!!

These really made me think again...so how about all those appointment cards for doctors, dentist, hair salons etc. One ring of badges for one topic.

First off, I want to say woo hoo for sunshine today. We've had rain here for over a week!!

First up...the sewing car caddy post.

Kaaren from The Painted Quilt thought to hang it on the arm of her lawn chair while stitching on her deck or patio. What a great idea!!! I took a picture of mine hanging from a rocker on our porch. The arm is a little wide, but it worked towards the back. Thanks Kaaren!

This super idea came from Christine from Home with Christine. She wants to use it for an art carrier for her children in the back seat. Below I've just added some crayons and colored pencils. In the can, just add blank paper or cut out coloring book pages. I love this idea!!! Thanks Christine!

The last Tool Time Tuesday post was for the cd case.

Dotti from Apples, Quilts and More said she wanted to use it to organize school supplies. Love it!! I just added some things from our office just to show that you can have a mini office in your car or purse...just added post it notes, index cards and all the other goodies.

These super ladies have inspired me to keep on thinking. How about a little case for the car or your purse for your hexagons and Grandmother's Flower Garden quilts.

The theme of all my Tool Time Tuesday post is to think outside the box when shopping in different stores. That's what Kathie from Inspired by Antique Quilts did when she was in the automotive section. She buys detailing tape that they use to paint on the thin lines on the car. It comes in 1/4" size (other sizes too). She uses it for hand quilting!!! Sooo much cheaper than in the quilt shop. Super, super smart...another great one.

Friends on Friday...

Hi everyone... hope you're having a great day in your part of the world. I have a few friends from the last TTT for today's post about the phone cord. Kaaren thought it would also be good to keep track of her reading glasses and Erzebet said she is going to use it for quilt retreats, so she'll never lose her scissors while she's there! Kim also said it would make a good necklace with light weight scissors on it. Thanks ladies for these great tips.

I also have another friend I'd like to post about. Melissa from Mel's Own Place is having a wonderful auction to raise money for autism awareness in honor of her super great nephew Brock...he's a cutie. So go over and say hi and read all about it on her blog.

One more friend...guess who we're going to see pretty soon!!!

Our daughters, Courtney and Kelsie (a senior and a junior) are on the high school dance line team for the marching band. They dance during the half time shows of our football games in the fall. The band, dance line and flag team have been chosen to march in the Main Street Parade in Walt Disney World in Florida!! Woo Hoo! They are so excited.

The band is flying down, but we're leaving a few days before, because we're driving. Hubby and Kelsie don't like to fly at all. I don't mind flying, but with driving you get to see a different part of the country. Last time we drove down in the summer of 2007 we took route 95 straight from New England to Florida. This time we're trying something new...interstate 81. They say the scenery is just beautiful through the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. If anyone out there knows of any quilt shops on interstate 81 through Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, let me know...I won't tell my husband you told me. (wink wink).

I never imagined it would become so popular...I hope I can keep finding things to pass along to all of you. Don't worry, I have a few more up my sleeve. I might have to expand my search to other types of stores!!

Well, the update is another idea to expand on TTT. I am calling it "Friends on Friday". I have had a few friends show pictures of their TTT creations and others have given me such great ideas to go along with the posts. Here are a few:

In the TTT were I used the eye bolt for a thread necklace, Karen from Journey of a Quilter, made the cutest necklaces with all different ribbons. You must go see them, oh my gosh...too cute!!! She sent me an e-mail with a great idea for them too. She is making one necklace for each of her different project boxes, so it will be there ready to sew with the matching thread...all set to go!!! So smart and such a time saver.

Another great idea came from Kaaren, at The Painted Quilt, about the latest TTT with the little apron. Kaaren thought it would also be great tacked the apron to the front of your sewing table to hold all your "can't live withouts". She also thought you could attach a pincushion that was filled with sand, to weight in down, and have the little apron hanging from it. So cute, I can picture it now...You could also use some velcro too.

and finally, a cute picture of someone wearing a eye bolt necklace. Go see Naoko's blog, Bear's Patch. The post is the second one down, I think, but I wanted you to see her cute dog Lucky...he's not feeling so good right now. Go see him and wish him well. Her blog is great too, beautiful quilts and wonder fabrics.
