WINDOWS8 MARCA LA DIFERENCIA

Windows 7 tiene buena crítica, sobretodo si lo comparamos con el fracaso que fue la adopción de Windows Vista por parte de los usuarios y las empresas.

Además de su posible fecha de lanzamiento, nos llega más información publicada en un blog de MSDN ,en el artículo,se afirmaba que Windows 8 “será completamente diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver en Windows”.

No conocemos detalles de si habrá un nuevo diseño para el sucesor de Windows 7, aunque por lo visto tendremos bastantes novedades.

John Mangelaars, afirmó en una entrevista que Windows 8 será “impresionante”, los lanzamientos para los desarrolladores nos dirá si eso se cumple finalmente.

OPENOFFICE 3.2 DISPONIBLE

Ya está disponible oficialmente OpenOffice 3.2, la nueva revisión de la colección de programas ofimáticos de código libre de SUN.

Se trata,de una serie de mejoras necesarias, de las cuales podemos esperar grandes cambios ni novedades.

despues de pasar por cinco versiones , el equipo de trabajo de OpenOffice lo consideran totalmente probado y estable como para lanzar la versión definitiva,en este recorrido se ha perdido la funcionalidad para Writer, que permitía añadir palabras a la autocorrección, con una opción para que las eliminara al cerrar el documento.

Los arreglos afectarán a Calc, Impress y Base estos son, precisamente los programas que inician con mayor desventaja respecto a MS Office, que es el programa referente en cuanto a funcionalidad en el mundo de la ofimática y con el que OpenOffice se compara y trata de recortar distancias.

GOOGLE AL CIERRE DE BLOGS

Por muy innovadora que desee parecer Google, hay veces en las que es imposible que lo consiga, nos hemos enterado que el moustro de internet ha cerrado seis bitácoras con enlaces de descarga de música para combatir la piratería en internet.

Los seis Blogs se encontraban en Blogger de Google, y ofrecían a sus visitantes nuevos artistas de deferentes generos musicales, normalmente de productoras pequeñas e independientes.

en estos Blogs incluían enlaces de descarga de archivos MP3, los responsables de los Blogs cerrados han dichoque los enlaces no violan las normas del Copyright .

Google se adelanto a publicar un artículo , argumentando que “Un gran número de denuncias recibidas contra unBlog y dicho Blog no explica deben usar su contenido con permiso, ese Blog se cierra”.

Desde luego, esto no ha sido del agrado de los usuarios del blog, que han empezado en Twitter un movimiento .

Tool Time Tuesday...Crafting Light Box

This is a quick and handy light box used to trace an image or pattern, especially from a quilt book or magazine that you do not want to destroy by cutting it up.

Do you know they sell pre cut pieces of plexi glass in the hardware store? Well, here is a picture of the 11 x 14 sheet. It's covered in plastic to keep it from scratching. The best part is, it's only $3.15 a sheet.

Here is the plexi glass with the protective sheet coming off.

and it's crystal clear.

The next thing you will need is a tap light. They are also found in hardware stores, Walmart and other stores selling housewares.

They run on batteries.

The next few pictures are the types of boxes that you can use. Use anything around the house, like this aluminum foil pan. Just place the tap light inside and the plexi glass on top and you are all set to go.

How about on old 13 x 9 baking pan.

Just add plexi glass and light.

All you need to do is place the original image on the box with the light on. Hard to see this, because it was so bright in the room at the time, but the tap light is on. Figures, there is great natural light for a photo and I don't need it.

Place your blank piece of paper over the image...

and start tracing!!!

With this cheap and convenient light box you can take it any where. You can store all your quilting supplies in the box with the tap light and you can take it to a quilting class if you need to.

Flea Market Quilt...Need Your Opinion

I purchased this quilt at a local flea market last summer or the summer before. The woman said it was from the time of the civil war. The condition is not great in some spots and it looks like it's "been" through a war, but I'm just not sure of the time period.

Does anyone have any information or thoughts on this quilt. I took pictures from a distance, of the backing and close-ups to help. The last 2 pictures are of the worst damage...one looks like a civil war cannon blew a hole through it!!! You can click on the pictures for more of a close-up.

I absolutely love this quilt and all the wonderful colors. To think that if it is from that time period, that someone wore those clothes that those blocks were made from. Funny how I am drawn to so many different styles and colors of fabrics. I love civil war, 1930's, Thimbleberries, reds and aquas, brights...I love them all, that's my problem.

Tool Time Tuesday...Hardware Store Jewelry

Do you know you can buy stylish jewelry from the hardware store? Well, check out the chain section.

This first necklace is made with beaded chain at $1.49 per foot. I purchased 3 feet for a total of $4.47 plus 19 cents for that little doo hickey that you pinch the beads in to attach them together. The decorative parts are some of the washers from this post. The washers are decorative and handy if you're sewing with them. You can also hang a pair of little scissors when you're hand sewing.

This next set is a necklace and bracelet. The black chain is only 54 cents a foot and I purchased 3 feet for a total of $1.62. I just used pliers to open the links, measured it so it went over my head without closures and then linked it up again. I had enough for the bracelet too. I even have some for earrings, but I need to find the wires from an old pair of earrings for that.

This last one is a super belt!! I used 4 feet of chain (it's actually called "sash" chain...I think they are finding us out again. Maybe I need to wear a mustache and a disguise when shopping in Home Depot!!) This was 84 cents a foot and the belt took 4 feet for a total of $3.36. The rectangle is a slide pull key ring I used for the closure. Nothing to do for this one...just slip it on and hook it up.

Here's a little "keeping it real" picture...dog fur next to the chain that's hanging down. Why do yellow labs shed in the middle of the winter. I can make another dog with the hair that she loses. We bought stock in lint rollers!!

I want to thank Kelsie for taking most of the pictures of me. Here is an example of the one I took of myself in a mirror. Looks like I was drinking!!
